Stages
(1997-98): all-original. Recorded four songs
for an EP; three of them were completed at Action City Records in
Texas, OH (Engineer: Pete). Major career move: winning a spot in
the 1997 Toledo Battle of the Bands and playing a perfect 29-minute,
59-second set (penalties for exceeding the 30-minute time limit).
Unfortunately, they placed second to a freakish performance art
band that went a half hour overtime, exhibited disgusting behavior,
paused the show for 15 minutes in the middle of their set to complain
about the microphone problems, and broke up six weeks later. Official Stages bio here.
Every
marathon vocal note, arpeggio, and paragraph that sounds as if it
were sung without taking a breath in between actually WAS sung that
way. Killer pipes, man. Jaytee's strong influence by former Journey frontman Steve Perry is evident
in “Chasing Thunder".
